DRESS(ED) TO THRILL FOR SPRING 2015
With the Winter of 2015 keeping much of the country in a continued deep freeze, The Spring Salvatore Ferragamo Collections are striking a nerve with chic shoppers from coast to coast. The Spring trunk shows have visited Beverly Hills, San Francisco, and New York (Costa Mesa happening as you read this) - and in each location there have been definitive reactions to runway and the main collections of Clothing, Shoes, and Handbags!
A strong reference to the 1970's is on display at Ferragamo, Gucci, Chloe, and many others. The retro looks of suede dusters, long skirts, and peasant everything are romancing a look back to the decade that brought us Clogs, Bell-Bottoms, and a passion for all things natural. Come to think of it, we should have known the 70's were headed to runways given the obsession with Kale and juices that has swept the US from coast to coast. (Kale is to the 10's as Sun dried Tomatoes were to the 90's). As we would expect from Massimiliano Giornetti and from the house of Salvatore Ferragamo, the reference to the 70's has been interpreted in a way that is wearable, fashionable, and will be on trend for years to come. Celebrating Salvatore's legacy of ingenuity of raw materials, Massimiliano created a modern collection that has retro references at the same time.
Exit 7 - This Leather Jacket and Skirt look has color, texture, and asymmetric details. The ingenious use of snake skin against leather, combined with exotic fringe is a true statement piece. The jacket dazzled on the runway as seen, but could easily be the star of any women's wardrobe to wear back to skinny black jeans, white jeans, or of course classic denim. The jacket retails for $6,700.00 and considering how few will be produced - a true collectible. Completing the look is the 2015 reinterpretation of one of the most iconic Salvatore Ferragamo shoes, one that started it all! In 1938 Salvatore created the now infamous "Rainbow Platform Wedge" for Judy Garland. Over the next 80 years, the image of that shoe has become one of the most famous images in the world of fashion design. #ICONIC In 2015, Massimiliano pays homage to the icon in neutral options that is even more wearable than the original, and sure to become a favorite to whomever owns it. Once again innovative, this time around the shoe is made with the high tech technique of fusing leather with the foam core. Creating a strong platform that is light to wear. The "Matisse" sandal is black or Sienne is one to recommend to every fashion client - young, established, or anywhere in between. Prices range from $1,190.00 - $1,690.00 - fantastic!
Completing this knockout look is a structured handbag with clean lines and luxurious detail. Combining calfskin, python, and metallic chain created a bag that is exotic and neutral. Formal and casual at the same time. The bag will be at home on a red carpet or at a backyard pool party. That's when you know it is a fantastic handbag! The bag is center stage in ELLE Magazine's March Issue. Alongside Jimmy Choo and Pierre Hardy, "ROSY" sparkles! The bag retails for $5,000.00 and is extremely limited. Only your best clients will have a chance to own one!
Dresses continue to be one of the strongest categories in the collection. On the runway, in magazines, on red carpets, and in the stores! Dresses, and in particular - knit dresses are a must have category in the Salvatore Ferragamo Ready-to-Wear collection. The details of these knitted fabrics are truly beautiful. The weight of the knits is wonderful for most climates,, and occasions. Exit 25 combines a novelty knit weave with snakes skin details at the waist and neckline. The asymmetric hem is a signature detail in Massimiliano Giornetti's collections. The exotic belt and trim are also signature detail of Salvatore Ferragamo collections. The dress was beautiful on the runway, and stars in Katy Perry's Cover story in Elle Magazine for March 2015. In the photospread, the pop princess with a global following wears Salvatore Ferragamo, Saint Laurent, Chanel, Giambattista Valli, and other red hot runway collections. The dress has been one of the most reserved pieces during the Spring trunk shows! Remember, this collection is only available in Salvatore Ferragamo boutiques - making these looks some of the most exclusive ready-to-wear dresses in the world - literally!
Then there was Cindy C. Cindy Crawford is a force of nature. One of the original "Super Models" that rocked the fashion world in the 90's, Cindy C as Prince referred to her in the song he wrote about her, is the girl next door - from another planet! Dominating the world of modeling runway, editorial, and advertising, Crawford has mastered the business of her image. Cindy was photographed in New York on February 6th on the red carpet wearing Salvatore Ferragamo. The event was a charity fundraiser hosted by OMEGA, the watch company of which Cindy is currently the face. It is exciting that Cindy chose a main collection RTW knit dress. The jersey dress had three-quarter sleeves, a cowl neck, and rusched body - with signature Gancio hardware closure at the waist. The dress retailed last fall for under $2,000.00 and is extremely versatile.
* Cindy Crawford wearing THIS dress doesn't excite fashion editors or sell magazines, but it does sell dresses! THE DAY AFTER Cindy was photographed wearing this dress in NY, a woman came to the boutique in San Francisco to "find that dress". This Chic woman was wearing black yoga pants with black Hermes riding boots, a black Chanel tweed jacket, and black Hermes bag. She was exactly the type of woman we are targeting through our ad campaigns and social media outreach. While she couldn't buy that dress today, she was thrilled to see the runway dresses in person. We talked about Cindy's dress being main collection and she wanted to know when Fall main collection ships. She will be back for sure. Thank You Cindy Crawford - you keep spreading the beauty wherever you go. That is a legacy of luxury for sure! Don't let Spring editorials pass you by. Be sure to buy the latest issue of Elle Magazine and share it with your shoe and handbag clients today. It goes without saying that every woman should see that photo of Cindy wearing Ferragamo RTW. It's Super-Model worthy!
