EXOTIC LEATHER & LACE IS A CHARM THIS SEASON

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO PRE-SPRING 2015 - WHITE KNIT / LACE TAKE CENTER STAGE - NEUTRAL ACCESSORIES BALANCE THE LOOKOFF THE SHELVES

One of the biggest trends for Spring 2015 is the use of lace. Chantilly, Dentelle, and Guipure are just three techniques used to create these "fabrics" of delicate design.  Lace is on trend, and more specifically WHITE lace. CHLOE SPRING 2015 - SHOWCASING JUST HOW PRECIOUS THE LACE IS?   The look was on runways - but actually, it is magazine editorials that are bringing it into full focus. Harpers Bazaar, Vogue, Elle, and every fashion blog has featured lace in all forms this month.SALVATORE FERRAGAMO PRE-SPRING LACE DRESS WITH WOVEN FIAMMA BAG

For a house of Luxury fashion like Salvatore Ferragamo, representing a trend - or creating one, takes on a much bigger picture.  The scope of what a creative director like Massimiliano Giornetti can do with a collection is on a playing field that few can match.  ONE ON-TREND PIECE LIKE A LACE DETAILED SKIRT IS A WORTHY ADDITION TO A SERIOUS DESIGNER WARDROBE. SUGGEST ADDING ONE ICONIC PIECE EACH SEASON. At Ferragamo the use of lace started months before a runway presentation as Massimiliano started the story in pre-collection.   In addition, it crosses all categories - from Ready-to-wear, to shoes, to handbags.  By incorporating all categories, this gives millions of more women the opportunity to notice, to be enchanted, and to fall in love with Ferragamo.  In leather goods, the detailing is artisanal, and high tech at the same time. VALENTINO SPRING 2015 - LACE DRESS WITH SANDALSA modern laser cut technique somehow looks romantic and retro at once.  While not actually lace, as it is laser cut - it gives that look and feel of handmade lace.   In the sports trainers the look is ironic, and in the stiletto is is sexy.  White is the trend in RTW, but pale colors round out accessories.  Pale Pink, soft Grey, and off white are very wearable additions to her Spring wardrobe.

Black, of course,  takes the look to another place.  Somehow the look is more Italian, a Sicilian fantasy, a Sophia Loren movie walking.  All in a shoe, a bag, or a skirt.   She directs the movie.  One step at a time!THE ROMANTIC DETAIL -LACE TUNIC TOP WITH SHEER - OPENWORK

Adding to this lace fantasy - we have a little GYPSYExit 25 has a little dark magic in it.  A sexy silhouette that was a strong look on the runway,  has been making an impression with the chicest fashion clients.  Spring Trunk shows have happened coast to coast,  as events crisscrossed the country during the last 6 weeks.  LASER CUT LEATHER TRAINERS! SO MANY WAYS TO WEAR THEM - MY HEAD HURTS! - IF YOU'RE COOL.. YOU CAN PULL OFF MATCHING THEM BACK TO A BAG More than once - Stevie Nicks was referenced.   The iconic solo singer,  and voice of Fleetwood Mac,  made her image known for wearing black and white lace in all forms during the 70's and 80's..  VARYING LASER CUTS SWIRL ACROSS SHOES AND HANGBAGS IN WHITE, PINK, AND GRAY. *MOTHER'S DAY IS COMING* Often, she wore asymmetric hem-lines and gypsy shawls.   It was rumored that Nicks was a practicing White Witch.  (A source of mine that knows Nicks confirmed it was true). RUMORS (a title of a very popular Fleetwood Mac album) Nicks played up by guest starring in American Horror Story - Coven.   Nicks played a witch.

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO SPRING 2015 - EXIT 25 - KNIT LACE DRESS WTIH WATERSNAKE COLLAR AND BELTExit 25 is a beautiful black knit "lace" in a matter of speaking.  It's slight asymmetric hem is playful and sexy.  HIGH TECH LASER CUTTING MEETS THE FINE CRAFTSMANSHIP OF ITALIAN MADE LEATHER GOODS - SECOND TO NONE.. - FIAMMA LASER CUT SPRING 2015Luxury detailing is what puts this piece and all runway items in a true category of their own.  The collar and belt of this look are black water snake.   Now, that's how a house of luxury goods from Italy finishes it's dresses! THE ICONIC STEVIE NICKS - HER GYPSY LOOK INSPIRED A GENERATION

Of course, the perfect shoes for this look and others is the reintroduction of the most iconic shoe in history - The Rainbow Wedge.    Now in Black, or Neutral.   Both perfect options for white or black lace.   Priced at $1,190.00 - suggest both.

RUNWAY RECAP

We interrupt the meanest Winter to hit the US since.. last Winter (!!) to bring you a glimpse of what we will be shivering in next year. COLOR BLOCKED DECO DETAILING IN RICH COLORS RULED THE SALVATORE FERAGAMO FALL 2015 RUNWAY (California and Florida doors stop laughing, we are cold!).   The Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2015 Runway collection was on Sunday, streamed live from Milan.  PRIMARY COLORS STRIKE DECO REFERENCES The collection was high on design, and once again Massimiliano was in the select few designers that set the trend for the season.   In fact, Allesandra Codinha of Vogue.com relayed the scene perfectly. THE TURTLENECK / THE HIGH WAISTED, PLEATED SKIRT  Here is an excerpt:

"To understand the story playing out on runways this season, look down. Not at the shoes, but at the carpeting. From Tory Burch’s Casbah-Rocking Persian Pile  to J.W.Anderson’s eighties stripes to Antonio Marras’s Aubusson tapestries, the floors of Fashion Week seem to be shouting this season’s plotline straight to the rafters. (Some designers, like Marni’s Consuelo Castiglioni and Veronica Etro, have even taken fashion’s vogue for interiors a step further, employing upholstery fabrics in their actual collections.) The trend continued at Ferragamo in Milan this afternoon, where Massimiliano Giornetti showed a thirties-inspired collection atop a Sonia Delaunay–inspired runway covering.MASSIMILIANO GIORNETTI TAKES A SALVATORE FERRAGAMO ICON TO EXTREMES - THE VENTI PONCHO STOLE THE SHOW!

Giornetti’s carpet suited the clothes: There was a certain geometric dynamism rooted in the line’s history, what he called “this idea of creating a shape with construction that is extremely precise and modern,” and which appeared in the form of a rhythmically undulating, ribbed cashmere tabard-cum-poncho, the athletic stripes on a tight-knit jersey, or an Odeonesque sculpted heel."DECO HEELS THAT REFERENCE SALVATORE FERRAGAMO ARCHIVES - BRILLIANT !! (SIDE NOTE - FEEL BETTER ABOUT YOUR DAY - EVEN TOP MODESL NEED PEDICURES SOMETIMES).

How proud we should be to work with a collection that is inspired but such intellectual and sophisticated references.   The Fall collection is bound to garner much respect and recognition from the most influential editors and customers in the world.   At first look is doesn't appear to be very commercial, but our master merchants wil find a way to relay the trend / spirit in a way that is wearable from head to toe for our boutique clients.  The Shoes are out of this world. Talk about iconic!

Be prepared to talk about the influence of interior design / home furnishing on the fashion world.   Never before have the lines between Interior Designers and Fashion Designers been more blurred.  SLEEK SILK SATIN GOWN WITH LONG SLEEVES WITH GEOMETRIC DESIGN Every major fashion magazine has added more and more "HOME" stories.  Vogue was one of the first to hire a major editor from one of the shelter magazines over a year ago.  Mieke Ten Have is the magazines HOME Editor, having come from Elle Decor.   It makes sense.   The customer that appreciates runway designs of course lives with beautiful things at home.  Stay tuned.. there is more home news coming...
