The Holiday Hustle, in Cyber December?
The turkey has been carved - and the shopping craze has begun! With Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday - if you have a pulse - your inbox, mailbox, and morning papers have been inundated with aggressivee advertising to sway your holiday shopping list. Made in China merchandise from brands like Reed Krakoff, Tory Burch, and Michael Kors seem to be everywhere. Let your boutique be an oasis of luxury in a sea of gift wrapped faux luxury items. Each season, the line between mass marketed goods and luxury seams to be blurred more and more. Salvatore Ferragamo is a beacon of quality for Made in Italy fashion - as luxury fashion is meant to be. (Once upon a time, luxury department stores like Neiman Marcus and Saks 5th Avenue didn't carry merchandise made in China. Today it is on the main floor of both stores). As with everything associated with the Ferragamo name, the way we approach our customers, promote our holiday season, and ultimately make a sale, is all done with sophisticated style.
LEGACY OF LUXURY
Don't be tempted by the tactics of downmarket retailers in our midst, because we are different. Ferragamo, Hermes, & Chanel are three of the rare gems that are a class act from the atelier to the boutique. These chic brands attract new customers without discounting.
Exposure on the internet has never been more important, as the web continues to influence the affluent fashion shopper. This makes the latest accolade bestowed on the house even more exciting. Salvatore Ferragamo has been named marketer of the year by WWD. The Vara re-launch, The Advertising Campaign, and the exclusive short film - Walking Stories, were all named as deciding factors in beating out every other fashion house in the industry. Walking Stories brought the Ferragamo woman and man to life - with romance, with Italy, and of course - with style! Continue to talk about that special project to everyone you can. While cyber presence is crucial, there is nothing that competes with the customer service Ferragamo associates provide in the beautiful boutiques day after day. Make contact anyway you can, but always encourage a client to visit the boutique whenever she or he can make the time. Then, make it an experience to remember.
OFF THE SHELVES
Winter white aka Cream is as sophisticated as can be. We saw some great editorial in September, and it has continued through the November issues. The Wall Street Journal gave a major fashion feature in print and on-line - featuring a Salvatore Ferragamo embroidered skirt. Short skirts are the look, layered with leggings, or dare to bare legs. Ready-to-Wear has never been more prestigious or promoted in the major fashion magazines in every market around the world. Take note of the other brands featured in this cream story. When wearing white or cream it seems like women go to extremes : Inexpensive items like jeans, t-shirts, or sandals that last a season OR ultra luxurious items like the Salvatore Ferragamo Embroidered Wool skirt from runway and that shearling top from Isabel Marant. That's fashion!
FERRAGAMO TIME
The Wallis Annenberg Center benefit in Beverly Hills sponsored by Salvatore Ferragmo in October continues to garner press attention! First came local media, then the blogs, social media, and the tabloids. Now, the publishers of Town & Country magazine have dedicated the January 2014 cover to The Ferragamo Annengerg Event. Rock royalty, husband and wife - Gavin Rossdale & Gwen Stefani wear Salvatore Ferragamo in full party mode! With over one thousand of Hollywood's elite in attendance and dining as a full runway presentation unfolded, The Wallis event sponsored by the House of Ferragamo has secured the label an elevated status perhaps not seen since Salvatore himself started his long legacy of innovative fashion.
Hollywood royalty was in attendance and another couple featured in Town & Country are as Hollywood as they come. Actor Tony Goldwyn and his sister - writer and film maker Liz Goldwyn are the grandchildren of Studio legend Samuel Goldwyn. The siblings both dazzled in Salvatore Ferragamo. Samuel Goldwyn was Hollywood's most famous independent producer. He became a legend in his own time and Mr. Goldwyn was in Hollywood the same time Salvatore was creating his dream - one custom made shoe at a time.
The Wallis Benefit is a wonderful opportunity to talk to your clients about the legacy of Ferragamo and why the house has such credibility in Hollywood. Also, a great time to help explain the history of this oh-so Italian company that got it's start in Los Angeles almost one hundred years ago.
The capsule collection curated and created for the Annenberg Pop-Up Store captures the spirit of Hollywood and the current mood of fashion inspired by modern art. Massimiliano has a unique ability to put his finger on the pulse of what will be the trends coming. Color blocking, mixed mediums, and luxury - celebrating the legacy of Salvatore - yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Salvatore Ferragamo is Iconic.
