OFF THE SHELVES
With December here, that means Resort collections are officially center stage. Any nautical references and combinations of navy / white are classic reference points as customers shop for items to have on that holiday escape. Be it Palm Beach, Anguilla,or Punta Del Este, everyone needs a few items to perk up that vacation wardrobe. Of course, the delivery is called Resort, but these styles will be the first bags and shoes she goes to in the Spring - once Winter is a memory.
The Art Deco movement is a huge source of inspiration for the Resort Collection. Linear design and use of contrasting color are clear references to this period that saw radical changes to the ideal norms of every art form - from architecture to painting that lasted from 1910-1940. The Cloud clutch from the cocktail group is a super chic example of a reference to the deco period, with an additional feeling of 70's kitch. The softest suede in a range of colors, aligned perfectly and iced with a silver metallic thread running through the bag - giving it just that gives just enough sparkle to live day to evening.
Keeping the Art Deco design spirit alive is the Lorelle and Ceyla Hobo and shoulder bags. Fashion meets function as these bags make a statement but are so easy to wear. These bags are the perfect on-the-go daytime option due to the lightweight nature of the suede and less constructed shapes.
A perfect sandal to accompany both of these bags on her trip about town has just arrived. Beccaria 1 in the Capri Sandal group takes this silhouette to another level of luxury. The braided metallic "chain" that forms the ankle strap brings in a costume jewelry detail that is sophisticated and sexy. The braided chain was a key detail that ran through the super glamorous resort collection shown at the Duke Mansion - a classic "Cruise" reference. If the chain is not her look, the patent leather Billie is another example of the luxury sandals at the core of the Ferragamo DNA. Salvatore Ferragamo excelled at designing sandals and is credited as the first designer to create luxury sandals back in the 1920's. Take note of the Vara buckle adorning the sole of the Billie strappy sandal. The ultimate example of hidden luxury detailing.
FERRAGAMO TIME
The resort collection presented at the Duke mansion in NY has given such a unique and prestigious reference point that just keeps surfacing at luxury events around the world. The ultimate example took place on November 25th in Palm Beach.
Ferragamo was the first ever Fashion House to host the Paradise Casino Charity event. The Paradise Funds annual post-Thanksgiving gala is one of the most talked about nights of the year in Palm Beach Society. The breathtaking Henry M. Flager Museum was the setting, a stunning limestone mansion unparalleled by any residence in Florida was a sister setting to the Duke mansion in NYC. Henry Flagler was an American tycoon involved in real estate, railroad, and was the partner with John D. Rockefeller in Standard Oil. He is credited with the development of much of the East coast of Florida and he in fact founded Palm Beach.
The Mansion was transformed to reference the high society balls of Monte Carlo circa the 1930's. 450 guests enjoyed gaming at 25 tables, all benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Over 30 VIP guests were dressed in the glamorous Ferragamo Resort collection. It was a night to remember and Ferragamo is the talk of the new youthful jet set crowd that is leading the resurgence of Palm Beach!
