SEPTEMBER IN FOCUS - FERRAGAMO'S LEGACY OF LUXURY
In the fashion world, September is all about New York. All eyes are on 7th avenue and the American Designers as they unveil Spring 2016 collections. Well, that's how September typically unfolds - but there is nothing typical about this September. This was the month that the house of Ferragamo unveiled the renovated Rodeo Drive Flagship in Beverly Hills. The boutique is a game changer. All eyes were definitely on Rodeo Drive as this Italian house of Luxury fashion stole some thunder from #NYFW.
This new retail concept celebrates Salvatore Ferragamo's world of glamour, Hollywood, and luxury. Architect William Sofield brought this legacy to fruition through the use of marble, solid aluminum, straw marquetry, terrazzo flooring, hand woven rugs, woven linen, and sophisticated lighting not seen in a retail environment in decades. There's a deco vibe, a vintage Hollywood feel, but yet it all feels modern. Clients and journalists have all remarked in the same way - they all say "timeless". In the disposable world we live in now in 2015 - being called "TIMELESS" is just about the most luxurious compliment a fashion house can receive. Sofield is the man that created the look of the GUCCI boutiques for Tom Ford in the 90's, and now his namesake TOM FORD boutiques. He's also worked with Ralph Lauren for years, creating those "more is more" retail concepts.
Mr. Sofield was clearly charmed by the legacy of Salvatore. With every chair, display case, and corner of the store inspired by Salvatore's original designs, Gancios, and the magical era in Hollywood that created the Ferragamo legacy.
Celebrating the reopening of the boutique and 100 years since Salvatore created a sensation with his Hollywood Boot Shop, a star studded, red carpet event closed down Rodeo Drive on September 9th. A list Hollywood celebs, stylists, journalist, and those in the know of the LA scene were on hand. To celebrate and spread the word #FerragamoHollywood was trending. Celebrities in attendance included Demi Moore, Freida Pinto, Camilla Belle, Kiernan Shipka, Angela Lindvall, Cody Horn, and Armie Hammer were just some of the A-List that stopped by to congratulate Massimiliano Giornetti, Fulvia Visconti Ferragamo, and James Ferragamo on this momentous occasion.
In addition, the #100Years100Days is celebrating all things Ferragamo for next 100 days. Check Ferragamo.com daily for the latest shot. Take a photo of your favorite Ferragamo shoe, handbag, or any style - post it on a social platform and use those hashtags to spread the word. Word of mouth is priceless and can truly lead shoppers to visit your boutique the next time they go shopping.
Today, social media exposure and images that go viral can be more valuable than any ad or editorial. The images that are shared, tweeted, and pinned, are often snapped at these type of events. You see the word "Influencer" used to describe many of the well heeled party attendees at fashion events. Considering just how many eyes can be on the instagram accounts of these party animals - they are influencing the fashion message.
Demi Moore is a great example of an A-List celebrity, that is truly an influencer. While she is a celebrated actress and producer, many young fashion fans know her from her LA Lifestyle, marriage to Ashton Kutcher, and as the mother of Tallulah and Rumor. Demi crosses generations, and demographics. She is seen at fashion shows, concerts, art gallery shows, and more. Known for her incredible figure and great style, anytime she is photographed in Ferragamo - that's golden.
ELLE MAGAZINE is also celebrating an anniversary this month. The favorite fashion glossy of many style watchers turns 30 this year, and the magazine took the opportunity to select key designers to join in the celebration. Massimiliano Giornetti, Giorgio Armani, Claire Keller of Chloe, Nicolas Ghesquire of Louis Vuitton, Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, Maria Grazia and PierPaolo of Valentino, were part of the 30 designers chosen to personify the style ELLE Magazine is known for. what an honor. What a month. What a season! And we are just getting started. Stay tuned for feedback directly from our trunk show clients as they shop this month as items arrive from Italy.
