WOW VOYAGER - OUT OF THIS WORLD OUTERWEAR -SEPT. 2014
OFF THE RUNWAY
The Fall 2014 collections gave us several big trends and sharp attention to a category that has the most variations and options - OUTERWEAR. Never have we seen so many coats, capes, and furs on the fashion runways. With the luxurious materials offered from NY to Milan to Paris, often the coat or cape has become more than outerwear - but part of the ensemble itself. Furs of all kinds have once again taken center stage in so many collections. Massimiliano Giornetti designed several editorial heavyweights that stole the show on the Fall runway. Mixing furs, innovative techniques, and unexpected color combinations - the Salvatore Ferramo Fur coats and accessories are already being short-listed by chic women around the world.
The Fall season has all the glamour and sexiness of Spring - but with one added benefit -LAYERS. In addition to blouses, knits, jackets, and dresses - the Fall season also allows for that that extra special coat, cape, or poncho to really finish a look. The luxurious outerwear shown on designer runways are often some of the most coveted pieces. *Many of these showstoppers do become true collectibles.* These ultra-lux designs create a trend that is more versatile, and more wearable than most typical seasonal status symbols. The coats, capes, and ponchos shown for Fall 14 are less fitted, draped with an heir of elegance and sophistication that will flatter most - but she must try them on. These items are the ultimate luxury - but most have little hangar appeal. They truly come to life when wrapped around her, so grab a pair of heels in her size and lure her to the nearest dressing room. If she is already in heels, approach with coat in hand - who can resist a ultra-lux limited production fur coat? The Persian Lamb & Marmot long vest was a stunner on the runway. The coat also lit up the sexy advertising campaign, and now - Vogue Magazine has given it maximum exposure in the September issue of 2014. While the styling in Vogue might seem a bit confusing, it is whimsical, magical, and out of this world. Three words that describe true luxury fashion and also epitomizes what Vogue stands for.
**Keep in mind that these coats and capes will fit women who cannot traditionally wear the very petite cut of Italian ready-to-wear. Take advantage of the fact that these oversized, draped silhouettes can flatter women larger than a 2,4, or 6. **
The Persian lamb and marmot vest of Exit 30 is spectacular! While the piece is a true runway, trend, fashionista, and must-have "item" - there is an even more serious / drop dead / stunning - fur coat in the collection. Exit 32 is one in a million. This is a coat of fashion legend. The kind of coat that someone's uber-fabulous grandmother leaves her in the will. The kind of coat daughters BEG mothers to borrow. The kind of coat a woman wears to lunch, to dinner, to the theater, to the opera, to breakfast!, to a wedding. Name it - Wear it! Beyond a typical fur coat, this creation combines Persian Lamb and Beaver with the innovative "needle-punch" technique that was signature to Massimiliano Giornetti's Fall Ferragamo collection. Classic black, and drop dead gorgeous. Priced at $17,700.00 - this is as luxurious as ready-to-wear gets. This is one for the elite shoppers - you know who to mention it to.
With all the emphasis on runway, DO NOT overlook Pre-Fall & the Milano Collections. What we call "pre-fall" would be worthy of many other houses Milan runway show. Pre-Fall collections in general are usually more "wearable" or "practical". More than ever, the Pre-Fall and Fall Runway collections can be merchandised together with ease. Look after look, Pre-Fall & Milano styles complete the look of key runway pieces. Don't hesitate to mix them.
Also, don't hesitate to suggest a pair of the signature runway boots! With the Gancio buckle, metallic heel bed (what!?), and grommetted strap- who doesn't need a pair?
The Pre-Fall pieces don't get much attention in the fashion magazines, but these are the styles worn by the chicest women with the most desirable wardrobes in the world.
LEGACY OF LUXURY
The house of Salvatore Ferragamo remains as it began -at the forefront of innovative and technologically advanced design. From Men's shoes to Women's Costume Jewelry, the brand continues to represent the best that Italy has to offer the world in luxurious fashion design. Salvatore started a revolution and created an industry that countless designers and stylists emulate every season. Ferragamo's Rainbow Platform Wedge Heel takes center stage with a shoe from the Italian era of the 1500's , along with shoes from 2012 and 2013 in the recap featured in Time Magazine. All these decades later and Salvatore Ferragamo continues to shock and surprise many who witness his creativity and commitment to luxury. What a legacy!
