AUGUST 2014 ENDS AS IT BEGAN - IN RED HOT STYLE!
The month of August has been RED HOT- on the beach and in Salvatore Ferragamo boutiques from coast to coast! During the last 6 weeks the Fall 2014 Previews swept the West Coast from South to North as Costa Mesa, Beverly Hills, and San Francisco (in that order) hosted trunk shows for some very sophisticated shoppers from around the world. There are several key trends for Fall fashion, and we can also see clear trends among international shoppers. Shoppers from Asia - most notably Korea and China, and shoppers from all over the Middle East are visiting the United States' most luxurious cities - in a big way. * It's fascinating to see the cultural differences between our fashionable guests. Asian clients tend to shop in groups of men and women, usually extended families or friends. Many young couples, some of which are students in the U.S. often shop together. Friends from the Middle East however often spend much of their social time with members of the same sex. We see several women - usually family members - shopping for shoes and scarves. All these unique traditions come together here in the United States, where we are free to express our differences - a legacy we should all be proud of.
Keep in mind how unique and fortunate it is that Salvatore Ferragamo has a distinct image and reputation as a luxury destination all over the world. Across Asia and the Middle East, Ferragamo has a well established legacy of dressing the wealthiest clients of those regions.
OFF THE SHELVES
One of the strongest looks on the Fall runway is being featured in the September issue of Harper's Bazaar. Ferragamo is once again featured on Bazaar's "The List" as "10 key Pieces for Fall" With Exit 31 burning up a full page! ** Two of the ten looks are Salvatore Ferragamo. #Exciting! Ferragamo, Gucci, & Vuitton each represent two key looks for Fall. Ferragamo - The Cross Body Bag & The Stacked Heel Bootie. Gucci - The Shoulder Bag & The Mod Boot. Vuitton - The Fluted (short) Dress & The New (Curved Heel) Bootie. Be sure you know these looks & trends that are in our fellow houses of luxury, as Salvatore Ferragamo is a critical player in building a most relevant wardrobe for Fall 2014.
The Stacked heel bootie has so much appeal. The petite chain detail that trims the chunky heel, the Mod appeal of the new Fiamma hardware in glistening gold, and the hidden platform heel - all come together to create one versatile bootie. It is a perfect boot to wear back to bare legs or tights - short skirts or dresses - (another look on "The List" from Bazaar).
Exit 31 is an ensemble worthy of the most celebrated designer collections of Paris or Milan. The tailoring and design of this Black jacket - zipped up the back (can be worn turned around)- understated in black - paired back to the softest silk satin skirt in sand - detailed with the embroidered "Needle Punch" technique that runs through much of the runway collection and completes the look with a black waistband of tweed. These items truly represent the best of what luxury fashion clothing should be. The finest raw materials of silks, wools, and cottons, - crafted by the handiwork of artisans with a skill and savoir faire (SAY SA-VWA FAIR) that takes years to achieve. These pieces are priced at $$1,490.00 (Jacket 598731-13x336) and $2,270.00 (skirt 597039-13x385) and will be gone before you know it. Ferragamo RTW is one of the most exclusive / limited production runs in the industry - again making them ultra-luxe. Accessorized with the Gancio hardware Cross Body saddle bag and stacked heel bootie makes a wonderful suggestion for holiday entertaining or traveling.
These items are beautiful in print- but absolutely STUNNING in person.
Take note that the Fall 2014 runway collection has many items that can appeal to the most runway conscious shopper, but also those that are looking to dress within cultural and religious guidelines. Many of the chicest looks for Fall are high necked, long sleeved, and even long skirted looks. Sophisticated, chic, and appropriate for most occasions. Be smart when interacting with clients looking for more "conservative" items. Take the opportunity to suggest these looks. In fact - don't stop there. Skirts, dresses, and tunics can be layered over pants for example. What a great opportunity to build a sale!
LEGACY OF LUXURY - ICONIC HANDBAG
As I flip through the fashion magazines for Fall - once again I'm thinking of the FIAMMA. The mini-bag craze is everywhere. From Ralph Lauren's mini-Ricky to Tod's D-cube mini bowler - minis are one of the biggest trends for Fall. If you can get your hands on a Mini-Fiamma - grab it for your coolest client - they're going fast!
Wishing you a Happy, Healthy, & hopefully Relaxing Labor Day Weekend. See you in September.
