MARCH - IN LIKE A LION!
The roar you hear is the Ferragamo collection as it stakes a claim as king of the jungle known as the design world. The editorial coverage continues to pour in and the coveted pages of Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar and W are chock full of Ferragamo Shoes, Handbags, RTW, & Costume Jewelry! Check the magazines and tear out those pages. These are the most valuable references for our fashion customers. Those are the looks she is talking about with her friends. Also, they are the items she adds to her mental list of looks to shop for when she starts her seasonal buying.
OFF THE SHELVES- PANT-ing for Trousers
With the 70's as a favorite reference of designers on both sides of the Atlantic - it is no surprise that pants, trousers, and the jacket to match are an important purchase for any fashion customer. Calvin Klein, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Celine were three collections that offered strong suiting in head to toe WHITE. With all the color offered in every major collection this season (including the ones mentioned above) - White separates are the perfect way to extend a look. White pants and jackets work back to any colorful item.
The tailored shoulder and wide lapel are key 70's details - yet these styles are timeless and modern. Three options for pants -1. sleek and slim with a higher waisted cut 2. trouser cut with a wider leg and menswear detailed pockets. or 3. slim cut and low slung with side pockets.
**Help her choose the look that best flatters her body. More than any other article of clothing for Women - when choosing pants - it's not about what you like - it's about what looks best on your body.
BACK IN THE SADDLE (BAGS) FOR SPRING
One of the strongest trends in handbags for Spring 2011 is the use of braided, whip stitched, or embroidered seaming. The hands-on touches that reference macramé, crochet, and lanyard from the decade that saw arts & crafts taken to a new level are all the rage and here to stay for the 10's.
Now in 2011, references to the earth tone and subtle ton-sur-ton styling are oh so groovy and really right on trend. Also, this feel is classic Americana and one look that the U.S. really helped spread around the world. Naturally tied to the Western theme cowboy looks that never really go out of style, rustic saddle bags are as relevant as can be. Ferragamo has the strongest look in this category in the industry for Spring 2011. I recently spent an afternoon shopping the main floor of Saks 5th Avenue in NYC - and no other collection topped what is in-store now at Ferragamo!
LEGACY OF LUXURY - ICONIC FERRAGAMO HEELS
Since the day Salvatore Ferragamo opened the Hollywood Boot Shop in Los Angeles in 1923, the collection has stood for luxury, novelty, and innovative design. For Spring 2011 the Hexagonal heel of Diamara, Deniz, & Dreda are a great example of the innovative detailing the house of Ferragamo is known for. Unique to Ferragamo, this heel is the perfect balance of novelty detailing - mixed with classic leather styling. The soft and neutral colors bring a safari chic reference that is a perfect fashion reference for Spring 2011. Suggest the olive green color to your best customers. It is surprisingly neutral and not a color that most will have home in her closet. The soft green works so well with gold, beige, khaki, and even certain shades of Navy. Like all Ferragamo Fashion - she wears these shoes in style - they never upstage her.
I searched the market for key styles to showcase for a comparison with the chic and novel details shown in the Ferragamo collection.
I didn't find much.
Trying to find a non-platform shoe with unique styling - not so easy.
Shame on the other shoe designers. Case in point:
Valentino referencing Ferragamo, or Manolo referencing Chanel? I think derivatives are never the answer. Especially when the original is so much better.
FERRAGAMO TIME
I recently spent a week in Paris during the Haute Couture shows. Paris is always magical, but especially when couture is happening. Of course right in the chicest shopping districts of this French capital of fashion was Salvatore Ferragamo. Twice I was stopped in my tracks by the most sophisticated windows I had seen during the day. The black and white simplicity of the Spring 2011 knitwear group - paired with a new W bag is timeless classic. There are two French Fashion houses that set the bar - Chanel & Christian Dior. Ferragamo is located just next to both! 30 Avenue Montaigne is home to the original House of Dior - that has now grown to a huge compound. Ferragamo is just across the way on this prestigious avenue. Cross town on Faubourg St. Honore and steps from Chanel's Rue Cambon origins - another impressive Ferragamo boutique sits just across from the French Presidential residence. Ferragamo - Tres Chic around the world!
