FERRAGAMO "CRUISES" INTO THE SPOTLIGHT

OFF THE SHELVES

Ferragamo Fall RTW continues to draw RAVES coast to coast from clients who are so thrilled with the new collection Massimiliano Giornetti has created!   Fashion with a classic twist and core Ferragamo details have also excited the editors month after month this season.  Not to mention the fact that the true Fashion client has been buying our LEATHER RUNWAY SHORTS & PLAID JUMPSUIT!!  WOW!  With all this momentum building, don't forget to introduce a Ready-To-Wear item to EVERY customer you work with.   That handbag or shoe client could easily find a great knit or skirt to work into her Fall wardrobe.   Price points from each category are seamless, so it is just a matter of making her aware of the ready-to-wear options - or changing her mind about investing in RTW, if that is not a typical purchase for her.  Remember,  a client might not buy ANY designer RTW brands at the moment, not just Ferragamo.   That woman who has gotten so used to buying designer accessories is a golden opportunity if you turn her on to designer ready-to-wear!

As we all accept that fact that Summer FERRAGAMO HOLIDAY PANTSUITis over and the Fall / Winter season is upon us - the fashion press are excited to talk about the Cruise / Resort / Holiday collections from designers around the world.   Keep in mind that the term "Cruise" for fashion delivered in November & December was born here in America.   It was American clients who were the first to express the demand for new fashion as they packed for holiday vacations.   Most women in elite social circles went on CRUISES during the holiday - and that's how the term was coined.    At Ferragamo, the collections are split in three deliveries for Fall & Spring - so what we will be calling Pre-Spring or Spring 1 is what the mainstream media will call Cruise or RESORT.  At the end of the day - the terminology doesn't really matter - what does - is that we have GORGEOUS options for our clients arriving in November and December!   Mr. Giornetti is giving her beautiful ways to stay oh-so-chic while she is entertaining or vacationing this holiday season.  PRINTED BLOUSE WITH TAILORED SHORTS Sophisticated pant suits in tropical weight wools, paired with silk blouses with retro / nautical themes that will be relevant for any holiday destination.  In fact, the cocktail group is a PERFECT first purchase for a new RTW client.   Weights are lighter, colors are classic, and the items are all about her active lifestyle!   Introduce a cocktail dress, that she can take on that holiday trip - but that will remain in her closet as a staple for years to come!  Be sure to check the Collection buy book to see what is on order for your boutique!

RUNWAY WORDS

While many of the terms and phrases we use in the fashion world stem from the design studio, clients and high society are a constant source of inspiration and creation for designers and for pop culture.

POSH is a great example.  The term has become a familiar way to describe someone or thing that is fancy or high-class.  Urban legend says that the term actually has roots in describing high society travelers.   When the Elite society of Britain were first taking luxury cruises destined for India, it is said that the term POSH was born.   Originally an acronym, the letters P.O.S.H were used to describe your cabin position on board - Port Out Starboard Home.   Port out, as that would be the best place to see and be seen when the boat set sail (remember there would be confetti and fanfare for the luxury sailing).   Starboard Home as you had the best view at your leisure on the way back to England.    People would say "are you POSH on the Queen Mary next month?".  Regardless of where you are headed this holiday,  Ferragamo is POSH wherever you go!
