EDITORIAL LOVE IN FEBRUARY!
Well Valentine's day has come and gone (did you sell as much pink as you wanted?), but the LOVE from magazine editors around the world continues to shine on Ferragamo Runway! Never before have the editors been so complimentary from head to toe. The collection that Massimiliano presented for Spring has editors, stylists, and now customers taking notes, tearing out pages, and most importantly - coming to the boutiques!
Stripes for all! - One of the biggest trends of the season is stripes - of all kinds - in every category. It's interesting, because much of the inspiration at Ferragamo is from Salvatore's rainbow wedge of course. We openly refer to it as an homage to the DNA of the brand. Other designers that are influenced again and again by Salvatore are less open to admit it. It's obvious why, but they could give credit where credit is due once in a while. What is exciting to see is Massimilano's fresh interpretation of the rainbow wedge (also of Edgardo Osorio's!!) and to see it cross categories as well. When Harper's Bazaar covered the trend this month Ferragamo lead the story shot by Nathaniel Goldberg. The colorful graphic dress of Exit 16 speaks for itself! In addition, The NY Times T magazine included Ferragamo in both of their trend stories for handbags and shoes for the season! The striped handbag from runway is all about color. It's hard to call our runway shoe a "ballet flat" - but the Times does - so you know they really, really liked it!!
One category that has simply cast a spell this season is Bijoux, aka Costume Jewelry or CJ. With a stroke of understated simplicity, Salvatore Ferragamo pearl drop earrings are spectacular! You simply cannot pick up a magazine without seeing these gorgeous earrings. The style can be worn by most women. Then when you consider the price point - under $300, and it puts them in any women's budget that shops in a boutique. *This type of reaction is the perfect example of what a runway show is meant to do. Entice the fashionable shopper with a powerful image, create the desire to bring her into the boutique, and then introduce her to all the wonderful options and additions she didn't even know she wanted. The fact that this phenom is happening in a category the brand is not known for - all the better! sometimes one item like this can do more for brand image than an entire campaign.
Speaking of Campaigns! - the Spring Ferragamo campaign is about the chicest thing you'll see this Spring! While Chanel went to Brooklyn to shoot their campaign, and Gucci is in the subway?, Ferragamo showcases "The Splendor of Life" with images shot by Graig McDean that are simply stunning. The images are colorful, youthful, clean, and beautiful. Showcasing RTW, Shoes, and Handbags, the images are sexy and straightforward and HAPPY. After all, fashion should be all of these things. What the point of dismal campaigns with brooding models? The mantra of this season's collection is a quote from Salvatore himself - "There is no limit to beauty, or the pursuit of perfection" - BRAVO!!
The campaign is powerful in many ways this Spring. The shots are powerful and dreamy, beautiful and seductive. Maybe even more importantly - the looks featured are all available in the Salvatore Ferragamo Boutiques! Never forget that Ferragamo RTW is ONLY available in your boutiques. This is a statement that most designer fashion associates cannot tell their clients! ONLY YOU can find these pieces for her. In 2016, this might be the most powerful selling tool for women that are facing sensory overload daily from the fashion world. Be sure to mention the exclusivity when you reach out to clients and potential clients. Existing clients that are sophisticated enough to know our RTW already understand how important the limited distribution is. New and potential clients might not know and / or realize this difference. Ferragamo's distribution makes every category a treasure - but most relevant might be DRESSES. One item no woman wants to see being worn at a party or event is her dress! While some brands referred to as "designer" are mass produced in factories not worthy of the distinction, any Salvatore Ferragamo dress is hand finished in Italy, and is as painstakingly crafted as any shoe or handbag. There is no better time to talk about this Savoir Faire than when a advertising campiagn as beautiful as Spring 2016 is filling every fashion magazine around the world. Not to mention that the price points on these Spring Runway looks now featured in the global campaign all retail in the $2K-$3k range. Incredible value for the level of hand finished detail! Seize the opportunity today!
