JULY 13 - SUMMER DUO - THE FASHION CLUTCH & THE BALLERINA
OFF THE SHELVES - With temperatures soaring this July, shoppers escaping the heat are looking for red hot fashion to POP that Summer wardrobe. Even the chic shoppers in town this month need a few great pieces for get away weekends, or that long planned Summer holiday. Salvatore Ferragamo has been a destination for great CLUTCH handbags for several years now, what is different this year is the clutch is not just "evening". While there is no other brand that does a better job at creating chic, sophisticated clutches better than Ferragamo, in 2013 there are many fashion options available season after season. Right on the trend, you have statement bags that can take her from day to evening in town, on a tropical island, or in any chic European seaside Village this Summer or Fall. ELLE Magazine agrees and chose a Ferragamo python handbag as the only clutch in the July issue for the "INSTANT LOVE" feature. Shot in Instagram style by photog ILAN RUBIN, the Ferragamo clutch represented one of the hottest looks of the season. Snap a pic of your favorite combo today and spread this trend to your favorite fashionplate!
We are also in the middle of a ballerina sensation! While the shoe has been a practical go-to option for years, Ferragamo was the key player to celebrate the shape in 2013 with a true fashion focus, by the launch of the L'Icona program. Even your "always in heels" women should embrace this look and find a pair that speaks to them. No other fashion brand has more options on the floor than Salvatore Ferragamo. Celebrating the craftmanship of Made In Italy style - and savoir faire (sa vwa fair) has never been more fun! What was once a rebellious, retro look..(Think Marc Jacobs ads) is now fashion mainstream. Chanel was a key player to exalt the ballerina with a focus on luxury (many CC flats retail for $850.00 or higher), and Tory Burch was key in making it a working girl staple, along with a Michael Kors tote...(As seen on any NYC Subway). Salvatore Ferragamo has been consistent in quality over quantity, and a chic practicality of this favorite shoe shape.
LEGACY OF LUXURY
"Running" with this theme of luxurious flats (pardon the pun) - the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo in Florence is celebrating one of Ferragamo's most innovative designs. While a sandal is found in most designer shoe stores today, when Salvatore was crafting shoes from the Hollywood Boot Shop in Los Angeles in the 1920's - the concept was ground breaking - if not scandalous. Women did not reveal their toes in public - certainly not women of a certain social rank - or members of high society. When Mr. Ferragamo was commissioned to create gladiator sandals for the cast of Cecile B. DeMille's Biblical epic - The Ten Commandments in 1923, he started a revolution. Suddenly rich and famous women from around the world found their way to the Hollywood Boot Shop to have a pair of custom made sandals by the exotic Italian shoemaker to the stars!
The Winged sandal on display now in Florence was created in 1951 as an homage to the Roman God Mercury. Inspired by Italian Sculptor-Giambologna, the raw edged leather wings are a wonderful example of artisanal craftmanship. The sandal is flat on the ground - but the wings were said to make Mercury invisible and give him speed no mortal could achieve. Rest assured, any chic Ferragamo sandal will make her about as visible as can be in 2013! How fast she goes?... that all depends on her attitude, and where she is going! Hollywood starlet Diane Kruger took a determined pace last week in Los Angeles as she dodged the paparazzi on her way to lunch. The big screen star ( and favorite Muse of Karl Lagerfeld) was Summer Chic in Ferragamo woven ballet flats. Suggest a great ballerina or sandal to your next client. Her feet will thank you!
FERRAGAMO TIME
Looking ahead to Fall 2013, Massimiliano Giornetti helped set several trends beautifully shot in the Fall 2013 advertising campaign. Daria Werbowy returns for another breathtaking turn in Ferragamo. Joined by handsome Tyson Ballou, they are the ultimate Ferragamo couple.
Harper's Bazaar has a list of key trends for Fall. Three key looks jump out of the Fall Ferragamo Campaign. The Ankle Boot, The Hand-held Bag, & The Turtleneck. All three are perennial fashion favorites. Notice how elegant, chic clothing has returned. Less bells and whistles, more luxurious fabrics. Shoes also have a simplicity that just feels modern. Handbags are smaller, more detailed little gems to be appreciated and celebrated. Take note of the shapes coming for Fall. Start planning those ensembles for an imaginary woman - who might just walk in to your boutique tomorrow!
