SPRING FASHION HAS SPRUNG - RUNWAY IN BLOOM!
OFF THE SHELVES
The Spring 2013 Ferragamo collections created by Massimiliano Giornetti make a clean, sleek statement as the world of designer fashion swings back from wild color to a vision of monochromatic modernity. A palette of champagne beige, moss green, winter white, and black is soothing to the eye with unmistakably sophisticated detailing. Leather accents *Equestrian detail* and tailored trench coat references *Menswear detail* makes ready-to-wear a luxurious, neutral backdrop to ultra-luxe accessories that are already causing a commotion with fashion shoppers around the world.
The core of the collection is of course - the trench coat. While this iconic fashion image is timeless, Massimiliano was able to update the reference and create modern, short jackets, that can be worn just about anywhere. With detailed lapels, collars, and cuffs, these jackets are appropriate everywhere from a serious boardroom to the hottest bar in town - or any city the Ferragamo woman is traveling to. In fact, they are great travel pieces. *Massimiliano was generous enough to spend time with the boutique managers while in New York last week (more on this to come in the next feed), where he shared his design inspiration - saying these jackets were created from back to front - with an unprecendented amount of detail shown to peplum hems and ornamental seams. A level of sophistication you can only find on designer runway collections. A mix of beige and black on the runway makes this look easy for your clients to recreate - regardless if they invest from head to toe, or buy one item to refresh pieces already in their closet.
Boutiques that do not carry RTW, this is still a great conversation starter for associates to have with handbag and shoe shoppers. In fact, it might be easier for your team to talk about RTW in general, since clients won't feel that the conversation has an agenda. Introducing the idea of mixing beige and black - a great black trouser with a gladiator sandal - or an over the knee boot with a short skirt. Both looks are perfect to pair with the suede or leather hobos featured prominently on the runway. The bags feature ornamental hardware running along the perimeter of the bag - meaning she makes a fashion statement coming and going! Sales on this bag were jump started when paparazzi snapped worldwide signing sensation FERGIE wearing a black hobo in Beverly Hills. Fergie is yet another star of the music world to be spotted wearing Ferragamo runway during the day, talk about a-life-of-style!
LEGACY OF LUXURY
As the Winter of 2013 makes its last hurrah in March, the rich and famous escape to warmer climates. Fleeing harsh weather for secluded enclaves of luxury is a tradition that dates back several centuries. For over one hundred years, the rich and famous in the United States have called Palm Beach their home away from home during the coldest winter months. Of course Salvatore Ferragamo has been at home on Worth Avenue for decades, and with the Spring 2013 runway presentation that took place on March 8th - the name now resonates with yet another generation of the well heeled ladies of Palm Beach Island, and the surrounding towns of this oasis. The Brazilian Court Hotel, a historic landmark, made a glamorous setting for a runway presentation that could have been in Milan, Paris, or New York. Fifteen gorgeous international runway models brought Massimiliano's vision to life - and stunned the crowd of 150 donors to the Boys Club of New York annual charity luncheon. The day was a success all around as ticket sales for the Ferragamo Presentation broke the fundraising record for the annual event! Bravo to the Ferragamo PR, Marketing, & Visual teams for all the work making Palm Beach glisten with luxury during the event. Of course a big congrats to Nancy and her team on Worth avenue!! The chic and sophisticated crowd was a mix of full time residents of Palm Beach and the snow birds that live between Park Avenue and Palm Beach Island. It was a who's who of the Muffies, the Buffys, an actual British Dame, and all the fashionable young girls in town. The event co-chairs were impeccably dressed, a sophisticated statement in colors, prints, and textures that was a testament to Ferragamo Pre-collection, main collection, and the Milan Runway collection! The group shot of these stylish women says it all - Salvatore Ferragamo means luxury - from head to toe - and from Pre-Collection to Runway.
FERRAGAMO TIME
A bright and happy spirit of color enchants the FERRAGAMO TIMEPIECES for the Summer of 2013. Massimiliano was inspired by world renowned artist David Hockney - known for his pastel colors and turquoise swimming pool paintings that captured the spirit and optimism of an L.A. lifestyle of the 1960's and 70's. Through Hockney's eyes, a Londoner transplanted in LA, was exotic and otherworldly. Hockney is one of the most successful British painters of the last 100 years. His work is collected around the world.
These are the rich cultural references that really celebrate the most creative fashion design. Designers are inspired by art, music, and the overall mood of society. Massimiliano Giornetti is crafting his contribution to the legacy of the house of Ferragamo, with these watches and all the Spring 2013 collections.
