HEATING UP WINTER WITH SPRING 2011!
OFF THE SHELVES
As we the approach the darkest days of Winter, Ferragamo has just the thing to brighten up your customers closet until she can get her feet in the sand! Put on your sunglasses because the VARINA-MOSAIC shoes can take you from the grayest sidewalk in NYC to the sunniest streets in Palm Beach, Beverly Hills, or Las Vegas. Next to black, metallics are probably the safest color to invest in. The added bonus of a metallic is that it can give a more formal edge to any outfit or occasion, and they are truly neutral regardless of the color. Silver, Graphite, or Gold - it's all about her favorite jewelry and/or hardware color. All feature a leather bow and give an exciting reason to buy another Varina or an AMAZING first pair for a young fashion customer who is just discovering the legend of Salvatore Ferragamo. Some of the women tied to her pumps every day might be looking at flats with a new respect this Spring - as several runway collections took it down a notch with lower heels or even flats. Priced at $450, no other collection out there can boast such a valuable option for a truly iconic shoe.
LEGACY OF LUXURY
There are so many details that go into creating a modern woman's wardrobe. A great shoe, the perfect dress, or just the right shade of lipstick. Sometimes it's the smallest detail that can pull a whole look together. The silk scarf is one of those items and represents true luxury. It is an accessory that was inspired by everyday life. In fashion, trends either start on the street and end up on the runway, or vice versa. The head scarf has been an essential part of women's wardrobes for centuries. Be it for modesty, for religious reasons, or simply be it a bad hair day - a scarf is one of the first accessories ever worn by women. The allure of style icons Grace Kelly and Sofia Loren was showcased again and again as those Hollywood legends were photographed wearing silk scarves regularly in the 1950's and 60's. The trend in the 50's that was more tailored (think Julianne Moore in Far From Heaven) was reborn again in the 70's as a more Bohemian Chic look. In the 10's or (our new decade!!) we are seeing a hybrid of the two inspirations.
The Ferragamo Spring Runway for Women was full of flowing dresses, menswear inspired suiting in neutral earth tones, and feminine prints all accessorized by tailored head scarfs. This new item is a refined scarf as it is designed specifically for the head and available in a range of colors to complement every grouping from the RTW collection. Sage, Ivory, and Indigo give you the opportunity to flatter any skin tone. The look can take you anywhere from the city streets to a windswept beach in the Caribbean. Priced at $160.00, these scarves are also an amazing opportunity again as an opening price point for younger fashion shoppers, or an easy item to layer onto an ensemble you are building for any client. With this price point and the editorial support bound to be coming in the next few months, these little gems are sure to sell out quickly. Be prepared to start reserving them now for your best clients. By all means, show anyone asking about the head scarfs the larger and more colorful options in the boutique. Working at Ferragamo, you have one of the largest selections of silk scarves in the industry at your disposal. Don't forget to show your clients all the ways to wear the scarf - from all the neck tying options, to tying on handbags, to wearing as a belt, or bustier. Refer to your PK book for illustrations.
FERRAGAMO TIME
Salvatore Ferragamo was, as we all know, as innovative as he was creative. During WWII Mr. Ferragamo famously incorporated non-traditional materials when leather and exotic skins were impossible to find. When other designers were forced to close their business due to lack of raw materials, Ferragamo looked at the situation as a creative challenge. Raffia and Cork were two of the elements that would become a staple not only in the Ferragamo collection, but for fashion designers around the world. Today, collections incorporate natural fibers in many different accessories. One very special handbag in our Spring 11 Collection is the raffia multi-colored Soft W bag. The W bag itself was one of the most iconic new handbags launched in the industry last year. Re-styled for Spring in rafia as an homage to Mr. Ferragamo and his original use of the fiber. The hand woven craftsmanship is something to mention when selling this bag. There is an organic feel to these bags that feature natural fibers. Fashion editors officially selected these materials as a trend for Spring as it fits right into the 70's feel of "Boho Chic" that is the major fashion magazines. In fact, Town & Country Magazine has an excellent editorial of the Soft W in Raffia in the February 2011 issue. Ferragamo is in perfect company with Hermes, Gucci, Etro, & Missoni in a focus on handcrafted detail.
The focus on artisan detail is here to stay - a perfect place for Ferragamo to shine in the fashion spotlight!
