SETTING THE HOLIDAY TABLE!
With the leftovers from Thanksgiving not even cold yet, I'm sure some of you are already thinking of how you will be setting your next holiday table. Christmas is just around the corner but regardless of your religious affiliation, this time of year is full of festive gatherings and parties. If you plan on entertaining, don't forget how important chic table settings are. A well planned tabletop is one of the most memorable details, right up there with the turkey, ham, or roast you might be serving.
With the endless choices of resources that exist today, there are two that should be a bookmark on your desktop. One is best experienced in person, and one is for the late night clickers out there - you know who you are!
William Wayne & Co. - These well stocked shops on Lexington Avenue and University Place in New York City have built a dedicated following since opening in 1989. Partners William Meyer & Wayne Adler have always made it their goal to provide affordable items that can easily update your home. Tableware is a passion for Mr. Meyer and he will personally help you put together any theme you can think of - from the traditional to the adventurous. The stores stock of tabletop items is impressive, and I dare you to leave without buying at least one thing. The store on the Upper East Side attracts interior designers and the well heeled women that shop for everything. From full table service for an upcoming party at home, to the last minute hostess gift they need for tonight, those in the know turn to William Wayne & Co. The downtown store on University Place has the same spirit, but somehow also feels right at home in this true Greenwich Village setting. Be sure to visit one of the two during your next visit to NYC. If you can make it to Lexington Avenue & 64th Street, it would be worth the trip just to meet the positively entertaining William Meyer. He is a laugh a minute and his quick wit and sense of humor are golden compared to any typical retail experience you will find elsewhere. Mr. Meyer & Mr. Adler are both a rare find - shop owners that actually enjoy being in the store, working with clients. (The company also has an immense inventory of items on the website). **The selected pieces I chose here are a bit more exclusive, but there are many items in the store priced under $100.00. ** Click on the photos to shop.
