WANTED X DESIGN AT INDUSTRY CITY

Friends in NYC, here's a great way to see some the latest designs from NY's artisans of furniture, lighting, interiors, and more. Brooklyn's Industry City has become a creative center and melting pot for so many professionals and artists working with paint, food, furniture, fashion, and more.    WANTED X DESIGN returns this weekend with this showcase of global design.   Saturday night (May 9th)  is the official launch party.   With music by Rombo & Blase, and a special performance by Richie Quake, this is not your Mother's or Father's design party.  Well, maybe it is, if your mom or dad are super cool borough trotters with their pulse on the finger of what's happening!  To RSVP click on the link or image.   To learn more about Industry City, click over and see what's happening on the water in Sunset Park! 

8 ON 10 - AN EVENING TO CELEBRATE DESIGN IN NYC

On September 10th, a select group of 8 of the chicest clothing, furniture, and antique stores -along with a legendary restaurant joined forces to kick off the Fall season.   The night was sponsored by  1stdibs - the design destination website that revolutionized how the most discriminating tastemakers shop for all things furniture related. Marilena Perilli Illustration ON10 was a great excuse to celebrate these chic institutions of style.

10th Street in Greenwich Village just might be one of the chicest addresses in all of New York.  With it's tree lined charm, regal townhouses, and proximity to Washington Square Park and Union Square Park - it's a magical neighborhood.   Celebrities and some mega-rich New Yorkers also call it home, but it's absolutely free to stroll the streets of the village and take it all in.   Put away your cell phone and focus.

Along your way - be sure to stop at these 8 locations that made ON10 such a successful evening.   A little enclave of chic shopping opportunities are huddled on East 10th Street between University Place & Broadway.  One block with so many options.  Coffee at Le Pain Quotidien   (broadway & 11th Street) is a great place to refuel along the way.  Of course dinner at Il Cantinori is a right of passage and must for any stylish New Yorker.

Illustrator Marilena Perilli lent her colorful work as the invite for the evening.   This talented artist has been giving us her upbeat, happy images for over 15 years.   Perilli's precise style is as memorable as this wonderful evening.

Luxury Home Sale of the Summer

Friends in the New York tri-state area... if you have access to a car - you should get in it and drive to New Preston, Ct. this weekend.   The famed PRIVET HOUSE emporium of all things chic is having thier annual "backyard sale" under the tent,  for one day only.   The sale draws a dedicated crowd every year, as those in the know, know Privet House has incredible items all year long, with excellent bargains at the sale.  The store also brings together a network of antique dealers and unique makers that normally don't sell directly to the public.   They don't say exactly what will be there.. but you know it's good.    Remember - One Day Only - Saturday June 7th.  (click images to shop the store's fun to navigate website).

Make it a weekend.  There are very affordable inns and bed and breakfast spots just a few sun filled, rolling country roads away.  The village of Washington Depot is around the corner, and Sharon is just up the road.  In that quaint little town you can stay at the Sharon Country Inn (recently renovated from top to bottom).  Also home to one of the best BBQ spots in the North-East - When Pigs Fly South.  Cross the line into NY state to reach Millerton, NY - where you can spend a lazy afternoon eating, shopping, and even checking out the latest Hollywood blockbuster or indie film at the art-house style Movie House.   This laid back town also has a super chic teahouse that has become it's own destination - Harney & Sons.  (it started here).
