The Royal wedding of the decade takes place Friday, April 29th at Westminster Abbey in London, England. The world will be watching to see Kate Middleton step from commoner to princess when she marries Prince William , the man destined to be the King of England. Set your alarm clocks, because coverage starts at 5am Eastern Standard Time! CBS, NBC, & ABC will all have various forms of coverage. To learn more before the big day, visit the official page of the Royal Wedding.
The fashion world waits to see WHO will Kate be wearing? Vivian Westwood, Alexander McQueen, Matthew Williamson, or Stella McCartney are the major British designers that would be a stylish choice. Okay, Westwood would be a really long shot! McCartney would be an excellent choice - because she would be an unexpected choice and the dress would be modern. Williamson is a long shot, but could be fabulous. Signs seem to be pointing towards McQueen designer Sarah Burton. The look of McQueen is fitting - very baroque and brooding - but I hope the dress is more upbeat and pretty - two things the McQueen label is not known for. Middleton seems too modern and fun to choose anything but pretty.
Two well known designers in London -Alice Temperley and Catherine Walker could also be wild cards in the mix. Not as well known in the U.S., Catherine Walker was a favorite of the late Princess Diana. Born in France, Walker made a name for herself in the U.K. Walker passed away in 2010 after a long battle with cancer. Amazingly, before her death, Walker handpicked her design team and collections themes through 2012.
Are you planning to watch? Many people here in the U.S. are setting their alarms early, some even taking the day off! It will be pandemonium in central London - not to mention an extremely tight security detail due to the state of political and civil unrest in certain parts of the world.
Queen Elizabeth officially approved the union last week - protocol in a Royal Wedding situation. It has been reported that Kate will strike "obey" from her vows to Prince William, just as the late Princess Diana did when she took her vows with Prince Charles.
Certainly Kate will become the next darling of the fashion world. Diana evolved into a designer dream, bringing major attention to fashion empires like Versace & Dior.
Diana was the first celebrity to wear Dior when designer John Galliano took the reigns at the iconic fashion house in 1996. Galliano would go on to name the most iconic handbag "Lady Dior" after Diana. To find some very British fashion brands - click UK FASHION

The Royal wedding was not only a TV experience here in the U.S. - oh no! The NY based Big Apple Brits hosted their own wedding reception for William & Kate in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Literally under the Manhattan bridge, the party started at 5am and there wasn't an empty seat under the bridge! Bubby's served coffee and cakes and attendees had a special opportunity to have their picture taken with the Blushing bride and groom - sort of.
The folks at The Photo Booth & Video were on hand and gave complimentary photos of the party goers. With your friends or with the happy couple to be, these professional quality photos are a hit at any party. click Photo Booth to visit the website and find out how to hire the team for your next event.
The jumbo screen re-broadcast the ceremony throughout the day. I must admit, I caught the replay at about 2pm. Sponsored in part by the BBC, the day was a charming way to celebrate this joyeous occasion. Of course the Big Apple Brits partied well into the night, long after the official royal reception had ended!
What amazing timing to launch our Wedding Page!! Congratulations to the happy couple once again.
