Fashion designers are usually known for a certain look.   Of course most do create a range of styles and designs, but the public image of the brand tends to focus on a more limited idea.  The effect is probably more a product of modern society and our need to categorize people and things than it is to the talent of the designers.

Salvatore Ferragamo created the first luxury house of designer shoes about 90 years ago.  Almost from the start, his designs ranged from Avant-Garde to classic - because he was creating custom shoes for the richest women in the world.   By the very definition, a luxury item should cater the client.    Of course, because of Salvatore's creative mind and ingenious use of materials and design, his most famous creations were the modernist and futuristic looks.  They became iconic.

It's amazing that all these years later, the legacy of Ferragamo has stayed so true to these original ideals.   I often say - there is no Miu Miu to our Prada here.. there is only Salvatore Ferragamo.   Luxury items for luxury clients. MEDIUM WAVE CALFSKIN FLAP - $1,290.00 - THE NEW CLASSIC   Today, the name Ferragamo means so many things, to so many different clients.  She or he might be a conservative business person, or a runway vamp! SALVATORE FERRAGAMO - THE NEW CLASSIC HANDBAG RESOURCE - HARPER'S BAZAAR SPRING 2015 Both can have Salvatore Ferragamo on their short list.

Celebrating Peace, Love, and Fashion - the August issue of ELLE Magazine features a double page fashion "vision quest".  A throwback to Bohemian Rhapsody of the 70's, the shoot features the most colorful looks from the Fall collections.  The Showcase features not one, but two full runway looks.  Massimiliano reinvented another classic Ferragamo style for Fall - The Poncho.  For Fall 2015 - this universal accessory takes knitwear to another level.   Fitting so many body types, and working in so many situations, the knit poncho is sure to be featured in numerous fashion editorials for Fall.  Of course most shoppers don't purchase RTW, but it puts the Ferragamo name on the mind of millions of fashion fans as they start to dream about Fall.  MEDIUM WAVE CALFSKIN FLAP IN CREAM (SIENNE) - $1,290.00

As Bohemian as the Fall looks were styled in Elle, when Harper's Bazaar presented the "NEW CLASSICS" in a recent portfolio of options for the modern, working woman - this leading glossy also chose the house that Salvatore built!   The magazine showcased a classic black and white palette. The Handbags were Ferragamo and they were the stand out items in this story.  An excellent choice for the girl on the go.   The architectural "Wave" quilts we saw from Spring are carrying over into Fall.  The combination chain / leather shoulder strap also balances the day / evening style.  Great news for these looks that have quickly become iconic.

*Take note that these handbags work for both business or pleasure - day or evening. LASER CUT SUEDE HOUNDS TOOTH PUMP - $750.00 That can't be said for all bags.  The iconic Chanel bags would definitely not have the same appeal as a daytime look.  While Chanel bags are coveted and beautiful, they just might be "too pretty" or "too sweet" for a business meeting. LASERCUT DETAILS

This Ferragamo feature is really a powerful statement.  Considering that accessories didn't exist as a stand alone category for decades after the shoe collection was world famous.  *Proof once again that Salvatore Ferragamo represents a complete house of luxury goods in 2015.

The magazine chose St. John for the clothing, which in all honestly is not considered "luxury", but actually a very practical choice for wardrobing the everyday needs of professional dressing.  SHOE COLLAGE SILK SCARF 35X35" - $380.00 It is much more of a complement to Ferragamo that the magazine traded up to include these handbags.   That has been the trend of the modern woman for years.  Investing in expensive handbags and shoes, and buying less precious clothing items that can be interchanged on a daily basis.

While the wave quilted handbags (and shoes with similar quilting) have been red hot since their Spring debut, take advantage of this moment to get these bags in your best clients wardrobe.  While your at it, add the bag in cream (sienne) as well.  With a retail price of $1,290.00 - both bags total about $3,000.00 with tax.  One of bags could justify that price - so two for that price - it's fantastic.  THE IDEA SILK SCARFT TO TRANSITION FROM SUMMER TO FALL

Add the stunning laser-cut suede hounds tooth pump to that bag for just an additional $750.00.  Sexy and sophisticated - and the perfect in-between season shoe.

Okay, add one more piece.  Season after season the silk scarves just get more collectible.   The super chic shoe collage has a beautiful color palette.  The iconic shoes are all there, artfully combined so they somehow create a subtle symphony of color on the softest silk.  Thirty five inches square for $380.00.   The perfect companion to that gorgeous cream bag and killer hounds tooth shoe.  She won't be able to resist this triple threat combination.  Show her now, before they are gone.  Once again, you have her covered head-to-toe.LET THE SUN SHINE IN - HARPER'S BAZAAR AUGUST 2015 - PH: DAVID BELLEMERE
