OFF THE SHELVES
With a second polar vortex threatening the East coast again this week and an official state of emergency hitting California due to lack of rain - let's take a look at luxury fashion as it is truly designed to be - an escape! The world of luxury fashion exists to be extravagant and beautiful and not to be practical. Runway never needs "where do I wear it" reasoning - not if the right customer is shopping. Dreams and fantasies - that's the best friends of a runway creation. A party, a vacation, or a most important date are all the reason any fashionable woman needs to fall in love with the Salvatore Ferragamo Spring 14 runway collection.
Harper's Bazaar is loving it! A major feature in the February 2014 issue is a list of "Seven Key Pieces" for this season's "objects of desire". The pleated white silk and cotton skirt of Exit 9 tops Bazaar's list as a must have style to add to her wardrobe. Ferragamo as usual on trend and ahead of the curve. The Spring ad campaign, shot by Mert & Marcus showcases pleats, leather, python, and more in the most beautiful items on the dazzling Daria Werbowy. Suggest a pleated dress or skirt to your best client the next time she shops.
** Cream, Ivory, Beige, and the Palest Pink are must have colors for Spring. **
The Spring 2014 collection is a showcase of restrained luxury. Understated elegance with bursts of colorful prints, pleated skirts and dresses, and ultra-luxe pink python accessories, coats, and skirts.
FERRAGAMO TIME
The extravaganza hosted by Ferragamo in celebration of the Wallis center in Beverly Hills continues to bring accolades and attention to the legacy created by Salvatore in Hollywood all those years ago... This month Elle Magazine recaps a special preview held in the Beverly Hills boutique. Elle's Creative Director Joe Zee was Massimiliano Giornetti's guest during that magical LA week!
W Magazine took it's appreciation of Ferragamo to the next level in the latest issue! Retelling the legacy of the house and featuring Massimiliano with many of the muses that give him his inspiration. "Ferragamo's L.A. Story" features the strong, talented, and beautiful women who inspire him and embody the Ferragamo woman. This is no small editorial profile! With all of these major fashion publications featuring the house of Ferragamo it's clear this is a moment for the collection to shine. Be proud to work with a brand that has captured the worlds attention and held it!
LEGACY OF LUXURY - THE MULE
A recent article in the Wall Street Journal was interesting to say the least. Reporting on the return and trend of the mule - the Journal decided to turn the story into a backhanded compliment as they report the mules return almost in spite of the women who wear them. Mules are an iconic style - many of the looks first created by Salvatore Ferragamo himself decades ago. The Wall Street Journal reported on the famous flick-flack sound that mules are known to make and the often kitten heal height - saying the two combine to make the Mule seem strictly retro. Of course they fail to say how current a retro look can sometimes feel with the right outfit.
The article goes on to showcase new interpretations of the mule in 2014. New styles feature a higher vamp - which combined with a steeper pitch of the instep hugs the foot and eliminates the clapping sound and movement of the shoe. (We have seen both of these design details in past collections). It's hard to say where a mule ends and sandal begins with so many changes to that iconic mule shape. As with most shoe innovations, Ferragamo owns the legacy of the mule.. and it's newest incarnations are nothing new to this house..
HAPPY SPRING - Trunk Show season is upon us - spread the word - and the excitement!
