OFF THE SHELVES
How's that for a hip conversation starter with all those young and beautiful fashion clients heading to your boutique? The L'Icona - custom Vara / Varina launch is causing a frenzy with customers from coast to coast. With major representation in print and on-line, any client reading about fashion is reading about Ferragamo's ultra-chic customized program. As we had hoped, ladies are coming to the boutique to walk through the process, and many are walking out with an additional shoe, handbag, or pair of Sunglasses. The program went live just about two weeks ago and already there are over 300 pairs of customized shoes ordered - and this is just the beginning! **So far the most popular combination ordered has been the Oxford Blue / Turquoise as worn by Actress Olivia Palermo**
Clients are excited to learn about the program and as they become familiar with the service, think of the possibilities of how you can suggest a custom Vara or Varina. Special occasions like a Sweet 16 Party, a High School or College Graduation, Christmas, or an anniversary are excellent! The opportunities are endless! How about Bridesmaids shoes? The bride-to-be can plan an afternoon with her friends in your boutique.
This program is also an amazing tool for you to use when planning that special occasion outfit with a client. How often has a woman found the perfect dress or suit, but doesn't quite have the color shoe she wants. Now the Icona program is the answer!!
Fall runway is a sea of Navy, Black, and shots of Winter White. I had fun making this combination at our trunk show in LA - thinking of Fall runway!
As I have said before, in America we are not known as the center of fashion design - however we are known as the best retailers in the world. The hospitality and customer service we offer in America speaks for itself. It's no coincidence that tourists from all over the world visit the USA on holiday with plans to shop till they drop every year! How exciting this pilot program was launched here in the US, from an Italian company with over 600 stores globally. That truly is reason to be proud! www.Icona.Ferragamo.com
LEGACY OF LUXURY
When a fashion house has the legacy of dressing a famous Hollywood actress - the photo archive is priceless. The House of Ferragamo has archives of archive photos of the most famous women in Hollywood - dating back to the beginning of "Hollywood" in the 1920's.
Among these shining stars, there are a select few that create a family dynasty of fame that lasts beyond a generation. Ingrid Bergman is a legend, having won three Oscars, Two Emmys, and a Tony Award for best Actress. Born in Sweden, Bergman was known around the world for her talent and beauty, and her performance in Casablanca. Bergman wore Ferragamo. Her daughter - Isabella Rosselini embodies all the glamour and luxuries that fame and fortune promises. Born in Rome, the world watched as she grew into a famous actress and model in her own right. Isabella has worn Ferragamo for years. Now, a third generation of talent and beauty with the Bergman genes shines bright in Ferragamo. Elettra Wiedemann, daughter of Isabella is making her mark on the world of fashion and beyond. This model, philanthropist, and restaurateur has style in her blood. Having recently completed a dissertation at the London School of Economics, Elettra is focused on feeding underprivileged children living in developing countries. Vanity Fair Magazine has dedicated a full page to the portrait of Elettra, shot by Claiborne Swanson Frank in Paris, and featuring her customized Vara Shoes.
How many fashion houses can count three generations of Hollywood royalty among their most dedicated clients? A can assure you it is a short list!
FERRAGAMO TIME
A TALE OF TWO CITY-SHOPPERS
We often say that the Ferragamo collection has a wide appeal to many different styles, well that was proven to me last week in our San Francicso Boutique. Becky Trinh and her super professional team are able to handle throngs of clients that regularly spill into the store off Union Square. Having one of the most varied demographics of tourists sets San Francisco apart from most towns, and also can add to the super chic style that many residents embody. Two such ladies blew my mind last week!
First, on Friday a women came in via an appointment to preview the collection. This was an elegant and stylish shopper. This is a "lady who lunches", in fact, she was on her way to lunch at Neiman Marcus just down the block. Let's call her Joanne (no last names please!). Joanne was 58 (she was proud to tell me) and a perfect sample size. With her black ballet flats, LuLu Lemon leggings, and intricate knit top, she was ready to try on just about anything. Her French bulldog was also in tow. She loved runway! This is a women who wears YSL religiously, and she was taken by RTW and the Shoe collection. Joanne said she was so happy to see shoes returning to wearable heights and less "circus" like than what was popular a few years ago. Bravo Joanne! This proves that Ferragamo has cracked that ever so fickle fashion crowd!
Then on Saturday morning, a shining star walked into the boutique. Literally. Actress Connie Nielsen, star of Gladiator, One Hour Photo, and much more, popped in the boutique wearing converse sneakers, shredded jeans, and a huge pair of sunglasses. Immediately her 5'10" frame and beauty gave hints she was a model or actress, but Ms. Nielsen couldn't be more down to earth. Of course she is cool, Connie is the girlfriend of Lars Ulrich of rock band Metallica. They have two children together and Connie splits her time between Marin County and NYC. Connie LOVED runway. She was smitten with the pinstripe jackets, the pinstripe pant, and the heavily embroidered skirt and chunky sweater. She told us "I never shop, and I never order at trunk shows, but I'm so glad I came in". If we needed an endorsement that our RTW collection is cool, we just got it!
Don't limit yourself to think the collection is for a certain type of woman. These two ladies proved that two VERY different ladies can both love a collection like the Fall 2013 Runway. Massimiliano was so clever to make the pieces just minimal enough, and just detailed enough. The skirts are short, however they are wearable if you have great legs, and also with leggings. Joanne will wear leggings, Connie will wear an attitude! Let's expand our perception of all categories! With consumer confidence at the highest it has been in 5 years, it is a great time to be in a Ferragamo Boutique!
