LEGACY OF LUXURY
The Ferragamo Resort collection shown at the Louvre Museum in Paris was breathtaking. The attention to detail and hand finished craftsmanship made the modern rock & roll fashion -ULTRA-LUXE. Suede, Linen, Silk, & Python Skin made a statement in delicate shades of blush, sand, and pale gray. A modern collection, for the modern women. As Massimiliano said of the Ferragamo Girl - "She's cool, but she has culture". What a perfect combination - cultured and cool. Key pieces from the collection include - Asymmetric Jackets, Knit Skirts, Tank Dresses, over-the-knee boots, and hobo shaped handbags. Many pieces hand crocheted suede or silk- found nowhere else in the industry this season (or any season). Hand finishing on this level is reserved for the most luxurious fashion houses in the world. The most modern way to wear an ultra luxe item is to pair it with something very casual. This concept of high-low is far from new, but it has now been embraced by customers of all ages.
Ferragamo continues to inspire fashion editors to plan fantasy photo shoots in exotic locations. Celebrating the heritage of a super chic Italian destination known around the world, Town & Country Magazine went to Capri in the latest February issue. A beautiful young girl is on the holiday of her dreams. An island getaway near the sun and sea. Fashion must be sensual and luxurious, but never fussy. She pairs her $4,800.00 Ferragamo hand woven champagne cotton and linen skirt with an $18.00 American Apparel cotton tank tank. Today it's not the price, but the look that makes these pieces work together. Don't stop yourself from showing something casual, with something classic, or avant-garde. While the runway look is how these pieces are presented in the campaign and in the boutique, few women will wear it head-to-toe. Be prepared to create a whole ensemble with each item, without the pieces shown with it on the runway. Of course, classic customers will never wear it this way - but somewhere in the middle from the Runway "total look" and the Editorial extreme is our typical fashion client. Have fun helping her put together that perfect ensemble. **Encourage your clients to bring other designer pieces they have into the store with them to try on together. Become her partner in creating that super chic wardrobe. You might only have one brand to sell in your boutique, but that doesn't stop you from styling many others. This changes the dynamic, making a client feel less self conscious about shopping at other stores. Once there is a sense of trust, I guarantee she will be shopping with you more often.
OFF THE SHELVES -
MERCHANTS MIX
One of the biggest trends coming out of Resort and Spring this year is STUDS. Ferragamo helped create the trend, many designers have quickly offered the looks for Spring. Used in every category, from clothing, to shoes, to handbags. Ferragamo leads in creativity making a wonderful pattern of sophisticated swirls with hand placed studs.
What better way to animate the very popular Platform Pump and Vara bow detail -than to cover them with STUDS. This metallic detailing makes these shoes cooler than most. The mix of black and silver give these styles a neutrality while keeping it very finished and refined. Black chiffon calfskin with studded details - styles to collect!
Don't think for a minute, this trend is just for city streets! Town & Country gave a nod to iconic imagery of celebrated Italian style in Capri with a studded Norma Kamali Brad Top, a bright silk Carolina Herrera Skirt, and Studded Ferragamo runway sandals! Red hot SIENNA in stamped python ayers sizzle in this editorial. ** The exclusive flat sandal version is stunning!**
FERRAGAMO TIME
The house of Ferragamo has a unique ogistic history to the storied heritage of this Tuscan treasure. Salvatore Ferragamo was a dreamer. He desire for a new reality lead him from his small village in southern Italy to Boston, and ultimately all the way to Hollywood California. All at a time when children in his own home village went barefoot, Salvatore was dreaming of hand-made luxury shoes. Nothing could have seemed farther from his reality - and yet somehow - he made it happen. It's no wonder he was welcomed with open arms in land where anything was possible, and everything was fantastical. It was the golden age of Hollywood and through his work with the greatest leading ladies of the day -Ferragamo created his own legend before he ever officially started his house of fashion. Therefore, Hollywood will always be a home away from home for the Ferragamo collection. With this spirit, Harper's Bazaar magazine and socialite Jacqui Getty hosted the only state side runway presentation of the Spring collection to coincide with the Trunk show on Rodeo Drive. The ultra-exclusive Chateau Marmont Hotel was the place to be on Thursday night. Trend-setters and taste makers filled the room. Actress and producer- Demi Moore -was gorgeous in head-to-toe black from Spring 2013. Getty was all earhtone neutrals in the hand crocheted metallic tank dress. Costume Designer Arianne Phillips (Madonna) was all business when watching the runway exits. Celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe was also in attendance, in Ferragamo, and intent on seeing the pieces after the show - for sure she already has red carpet plans. On Friday and Saturday, many of these super stylish ladies came to the boutique to order Spring pieces, and to purchase full price Resort items! (Pinch me - am I dreaming? NO, this is happening!)
It might be February, but it doesn't get much hotter than this!!
