FERRAGAMO TIME
Next stop – Paris! That’s right, the luxurious fashion legend from Florence took Paris by storm (literally) on June 12th with a Resort presentation that was super luxe and sophisticated. The romantic city of lights was overcast in clouds and wind - bringing even more drama to this exciting setting. The show was another first for Ferragamo, and amazingly, a first for the Louvre Museum. For the first time in Ferragamo’s history, the collection was presented in Paris, and for the first time in the history of the Louvre Museum – a fashion show took place inside the building. Let me say that again: Ferragamo was the first fashion house to EVER stage a fashion show in the Louvre Museum. Fashion shows regularly take place under the glass pyramids beneath the Louvre in the carousel – but none have ever been staged in the museum itself. That's right: Paris - home to Haute Couture itself and legendary French houses like Chanel and Dior bestowed this honor of the Soul of Tuscany, and pride of Florence - Salvatore Ferragamo!
The collection was an explosion of luxury! Celebrating artisan's detailing of finely crafted items like crocheted skirts, aligator handbags, and snakeskin boots, the collection was item driven - exactly how clients shop. Massimiliano Giornetti presented the perfect balance - a super luxurious collection - shown in a subtle, cool color palette. Soothing and exciting at the same time. Inspired by island destinations and the shades of paper used by Leonardo Da Vinci himself over 500 years ago. With good reason. The show celebrates the exhibit of Da Vinci’s last work – "The Saint Anne" on display at the Louvre through June 25th, with the generous sponsorship of Salvatore Ferragamo. The exhibit is drawing 4,000 visitors a day and will be one of the largest in recent memory. The show also helps to create an important pattern. Resort now represented Ferragamo's most luxurious presentations. Last year at the Duke Mansion in NYC - this year at the Louvre in Paris. A smart collection to focus on, since Resort has the longest shelf life of any delivery in your boutique. Shipping in Fall, it stays relevent through Spring - bridging the gap between other deliveries. Resort has become one of the most important collections for all major fashion houses.

With all the press the Spring 2012 Ferragamo collection continues to receive, all the more exciting is that Pre-Fall is arriving and fashion editors are smitten! On the heels of the much celebrated Spring – Fall drives home the point that Salvatore Ferragamo is a member of the small circle of fashion’s elite group of luxury Ready-To-Wear resources – and it’s here to stay. Massimiliano's visions of the Ferragamo woman continue to hit all the right fashion chords. Incorporating the chicest of fashion’s iconic references such as YSL, Czarist Russia, & Capri, Giornetti has seduced fashion editors and young fashion clients as well– many from both groups discovering the brand “for the very first time”.
Ferragamo celebrated another first for the brand with the Pre-Fall collection being formally presented to editors in Milan. The former VIP marbled waiting room of Milan's Central Station, originally created for the Italian Royal family was the backdrop as models lounged in this beautiful collection, hand crafted with the most well-heeled traveler in mind. Luxe details of alligator, ostrich, and lambskin accessorizing cashmeres, wool gabardine, and jersey of wool and silk. The sophisticated yet playful use of pleated skirts creating movement and texture on printed silk – complemented with soft tailoring of the finest velvet. Silk or Chiffon blouses that are sensual and chic – giving a reference to the past, updated for the modern fashion shopper.
Pre-Fall was presented with a shoe that makes a perfect entrance - the new Vara Platform! This double platform packs a serious punch that says I’M HERE!
