FERRAGAMO TIME
As clients mentally prepare themselves for Fall (hello to the kids school schedule, goodbye to the Summer House schedule), your boutique is ready for each and every "need" coming up this season. Delivery after delivery - luxury is on the table. Just around the corner is the Resort collection, and last week Massimiliano showed his Spring 2013 collection in Milan. In short, it was a hit! Proving he is not one to follow any formula, Giornetti showed a muted, neutral, and black collection chock full of luxe staples - and items to collect. Style.com said it clearly : "...The point is, Giornetti has made the brand aspirational again.... there were certainly pieces in this collection that will have fashion-watchers making lists....this collection was super luxe, mostly in leather and exotic skins, but it registered much more casual than Giornetti's gold-leafed gypsies did for Fall...He's not setting any agendas with these clothes, but it's smart business to go after his clients' everyday needs".
Vogue.com said it best: "In a nutshell, Ferragamo, with the rise of Massimiliano Giornetti, is emerging as the hipper Italian answer to Hermes. It is luxury class, where maids may be a given. "Emerging" isn't guite the right term here, though, since the Ferragamo family has been at the top of the luxury footwear tree in Italy since Salvatore himself began designing and making glamorous footwear for stars and aristocrats in the twenties".
These reviews said it all!! The Spring collection will be coveted. With his study of the trench coat, Massimiliano clearly took Ferragamo RTW to a new level of sophistication. Giornetti layered in pieces for Fall, Resort, & Spring that will have the ladies who love Bottega Veneta, Hermes, & Loro Piana taking note. It might even crack the spell of the logo letter obsessed fashion flock, you know the CC's, GG's, & LV's. Ferragamo is unavoidable to the fashion flock. Take full advantage of the fact that you work with the most protected and exclusive RTW brand in the fashion industry. No global brand has a more exclusive distribution.
**Side Note: I had dinner last weekend with friends who are executives from three other luxury brands. As soon as we sat down, one said "OMG, the Ferragamo boutiques must be on fire this Fall!" All three of them raved about the collection, about the editorial, and about Kate Moss in the campaign. They were dying to hear about our Trunk Shows in August! Let's all realize this is part of the bigger effect that the press has on our reputation and so important - the effect it will have on sales!**
The biggest client of your career can begin buying with one luxurious piece of fashion.
MERCHANTS MIX
Never has a luxury brand shown "Classic" icons that are so sexy. The Sofia handbag is RED HOT Heritage on display in a season where most brands bags are luke warm. Ferragamo adds an even smoother, Rodano leather from the Netherlands, to the Sofia offering. As you quote the prices of this season's hottest Feragamo bags - keep in mind that Chanel's animated classic leather bags with resin and metal detailing are retailing for $5,000.00, $7,000.00, & $9.700.00. (Those price points can alienate even the most dedicatd customers). Hair Calf, Rodano Leather, and Python bags crafted in Italy are all investments at $1,950.00, $1,690.00, & $3,400.00. Especially in a world where lesser known handbag brands are selling goods at prices that should guarantee MADE IN ITALY, but often do not.
In the category that created the legend, the Vara platform pump also revives a classic concept. This shoe is definitely NOW! Sexier by the season, Fall offers 4 versions to wow her. From the double platform of Trilly, to the sexy peep-toe of Talia, to the sling-back platform of Tea these shoes will get her noticed. The Cyprus Green Python, Talia is a North American Exclusive. In a year when what I'm calling "circus shoes" are on so many runways - Ferragamo fashion shoes are sexy, tall, and chic. **These Vara styles make her the center of attention - but NOT a spectacle.**
LEGACY OF LUXURY
COSTUME PARTY
As Vogue.com so accurately stated - Ferragamo is aspirational. No better example - Harper's Bazaar devoting a full page of editorial to Ferragamo Costume Jewelry. The stunning earrings and choker in deep rich burgundy garnet with gold details are sophisticated, romantic, and beautiful. These items are made from brass & crystal and you should feel confident discussing those materials. Costume Jewelry is a vibrant category being offered from every major fashion house. Ferragamo CJ has the distinction of being MADE IN ITALY, not all brands can say this. While the price points of $470 & $ 1,830 for these earrings and choker might seem expensive, it is not uncommon in the world of designer costume jewelry. Remember that these pieces are crafted by hand, in Italy, and have the save cache as hand made leather goods. The same time and energy is needed to create costume or fine jewelry. In fact, CJ often requires more time to make than fine jewelry due to the difficulty of shaping these man-made materials. Lanvin, Balmain, Balenciaga, Chanel, & Dior are all offering costume jewelry made from resin, strass, & metal. Fashion clients have started collecting these pieces, as they know how limited they can be in quantity. Start looking at these items and promoting them to your out of town clients today. It is the perfect item that they have never seen, and they will be the "only one" to have it in their circle. * Have a client that will not wear CJ? What better way to compare, contrast, and flatter our Fine Jewelry than by showcasing CJ first. *
Fashion is back, so sexy and romantic for Fall. Hello Signorina!
