OFF THE SHELVES

FERRAGAMO CROCHET DRESS - LUCKY MAGAZINE 3/11Let's continue to talk trends for Spring.   Last time we covered the head to toe White-Out happening all over the catwalks, and in February we talked 70's styling that stole the show in Milan & Paris.  (FYI there are crazy chic CAFTANS coming to Dior Boutiques in wild prints for Spring - think Liz Taylor in her heyday).   Well Massimiliano gave us one of the richest and most classic references in the fashion world.   No, I'm not talking about the Crochet Dress that is heating up editorials (See LUCKY Mag Credit) and our ad campaign - V MAGAZINE - EXIT 10 - BLOUSE / SKIRT 470-677-$1,650.00 / 470-639-$4,350.00 (BEIGE IN REAL LIFE)I mean the Trapunto lace and embroidery he presented with a modern twist in peasant style tops, dresses, and skirts on the runway.  The lace open-work, the eyelets, and the embroidery just screams luxury, yet if has a refined style and sophisticated manner.   It is the perfect detail for the Ferragamo Collection - as it is known for detailing and not for an obvious Logo.  Quality and style speaks for itself.   Our clients appreciate this subtle appeal. EFFORTLESS PEASANT TOP - EXIT 23- 470-898- $730.00  We share this attribute with some of the most beautiful collections in the world - Hermes and Bottega Venetta are two that are known for luxurious items and not a gauche* logo.  One red hot look are the two pieces of our runway exit# 10 - they are the cover shot on the Spring 2011 Edition of V Magazine.   Britney Spears celebrates her comeback on the cover of V shot by legend Mario Testino.   Fan of Britney or not, the relevance is tremendous.   V is the coolest magazine in the industry.  Not only is this oversized glossy read by the hippest fashion customers, it is also read by the most influential people in the fashion industry.   Every fashion designer and ad exec alike reads V - if for no other reason - ad campaigns look best in the giant glossy pages of this colorful magazine. EXIT 25 - FLORAL TOP / SKIRT - 470-601- $690.00 / 470-637 - $990.00 This is a huge achievement and exposure for Ferragamo.

The idea of two matching pieces that wear as a dress is very appealing to any woman who travels.  The option to create the head-to-toe look makes packing that much easier.  There are several two piece looks in the Spring collection.  Exit 8 & 25 are great examples.

To put icing on this editorial bonbon - super model Carolyn Murphy CAROLYN MURPHY IN FERRAGAMO - V MAGAZINEis stunning in exit 45 inside the mag. (This look is totally sheer and not produced.  If someone asks about it, reference Exit 47.  This silk chiffon gown is on the cover of your PK book and it is gorgeous). That shoot was also styled by the one of the biggest names in the industry - Mr. George Cortina.EXIT 47 - 470-576- NAVY CHIFFON GODDESS DRESS - $6,600.00   To say that the fashion crowd is taking notice of Salvatore Ferragamo this year is an understatement.    Let's use this opportunity to get this excitement across to every client we know and every new customer walking through the door.

LEGACY OF LUXURY - THE BUCKET BAG

In the world of designer handbags there are key shapes and styles that are icons of the industry.   Whether it is a hobo, a clutch, or a saddle bag - all have a unique appeal.   One shape taking center stage due to the Ferragamo Spring collection is the Drawstring or bucket bag.  LIGHT BLUE SUEDE DRAWSTRING - 469-392-$1,090.00 This sporty shape has been a favorite of women through the years.   In fact, companies like Louis Vuitton and Coach (when it was a luxury company) made a name for themselves in the 70's and 80's via oversized buckets that could hold everything but the kitchen sink!   For Spring 2011, Ferragamo takes the shape into the future with hot styling and cool colors.  These drawstring bags in calfskin, suede, or exotic python are the ultimate accessory to wear back to any chic shades of pastel or primary colors in her wardrobe.  The Ferragamo drawstring bags also incorporate playful yet sophisticated charm hardware that completes the story of our C.J. (costume jewelry) collection that is burning up every magazine this season. This is the year of COLOR for fashion, so compliment her RTW (Ferragamo Collection or other) with a pop.   Don't hesitate to suggest mixing shades and colors not typically mixed.  The old rules of matching "the right" shade of beige, navy, or red are really out the window in 2011.   FERRAGAMO DRAWSTRING IN PYTHON $1,950.00 - ELLE MARCH 11Americans are finally embracing the idea of wearing color like Europeans have always done.  (Red pants on men is still a great way to spot a tourist in NYC).

The drawstring bags are also an excellent way to emulate the runway without breaking her budget.   The small drawstring bag in suede is $1,090.00!  Take it to the next level by talking about our python version (see Elle editorial)- OR- really get things exciting with one of our crocodile options!  At $5,500 and $13,500 they could be the bag on any luxury customers bucket list!

FERRAGAMO TIME

Salvatore Ferragamo changed the world of footwear forever when he introduced out of this world platforms and wedge designs back in the 1920's and 30's.   Eighty years later the Ferragamo collection is a resource for DUCCIA IN CALFSKIN & RAFFIA - $475.00women looking for a shoe that will take them higher!   Suggest the groovy stylng of Duccia and Darcey, in boutique windows now.   These girls raw edged uppers and are gathered by a metallic ring that hints of the Gancio. DARCEY IN TAN CALFSKIN - $495.00 Part of the Safari Chic theme, these raffia wedges are fashionable and comfortable!  Be sure to check colors coming to your store, as there are black and red options also available!

RUNWAY WORDS

GAUCHE- (say-GOWSH) This French word has become an expression known around the world.   What actually translates in English as "LEFT" can mean so much more.   When someone says "that is so gauche" - it usually means lacking social grace, and is not a compliment.  However, the fashion industry took the expression back in the 70's and made it just the opposite.   Rive Gauche was a collection launched by French designer Yves Saint Laurent and came to symbolize the bohemian chic style of the trendy set of St. Germain in Paris - situated on the "LEFT BANK" of the river Seine.   To be clear: Tres Gauche - insult / Rive Gauche or Left Bank - compliment - don't confuse the two references!
